"A Mother's Soliloquy" is a visual music film revolving around the cyclical nature of addiction, recovery, and relapse.
Told without dialogue, Soliloquy combines contemporary dance with a nonlinear narrative, using the human body as its primary means of expression. The project incorporates an original score with stylistic world-building to create an immersive experience, travelling inside the mind of a recovering addict as she faces her temptation.
The film hopes to shed light on the emotional and psychological pain often associated with recovery, with the intention of generating discourse around those suffering from addiction. With millions afflicted by alcoholism, Soliloquy explores the inner psyche of those affected, spinning an abstract story of the road to recovery.
'A Mother's Soliloquy' was born out of personal experiences with addiction at a young age. Growing up in a family disrupted by alcohol took a toll on my own upbringing, and seemingly kept my family trapped in an incessant cycle of relapse and recovery.
Inspired by my own experience, 'A Mother's Soliloquy' aims to capture the violent, cyclical nature of alcoholism, and its disruptive effect on the family. Structured loosely around the 12 Steps of AA, the story sympathizes with those suffering from addiction, while attempting to explore the psychological toll that addiction may take. 'Soliloquy' presents a raw, visceral look at one woman's decision to drink, portraying relapse with unapologetic honesty as we see the path to recovery cut short.
Told without dialogue, much of the film is communicated visually and abstractly, with the human body becoming its own unspoken form of dialogue. Through this abstraction, the film attempts to create a more layered, intimate atmosphere, allowing audiences to follow the story while simultaneously projecting their own experiences. The film combines a deep, electronic score with an experimental visual journey in order to tell a poem of grief, loss, and addiction, and a mother's struggle to overcome her temptation.

Set 50,000 years in the future, "don't you wonder?" meditates on a post-human Earth through the lens of AI. This short film was written, directed, animated, and created solo by me.

At the stroke of midnight, a puppet awakes. "Heartbeats" explores freedom, confinement, and isolation through the metaphor of a dancing puppet, utilizing vertical cinema to emphasize the brutality of his loneliness.

*Intended to be watched with headphones.* ‘The Silence’ revolves, at first, around the Fermi paradox, a cosmological problem that questions why we have not yet been in contact with extraterrestrial life. Offering a possible answer to this paradox, ‘The Silence’ explores the corruption of good and the creation of evil, giving a critical point of view on humanity. Music by Karel Husa and Eric Whitacre. Through the metaphor to a butterfly, 'Metamorphosis' conveys the emotions, experiences, and inner turmoils felt while experiencing transformation, highlighting the pain and conflict involved while de-romanticizing the conventional glorification. This film draws partial inspiration from Godfrey Reggio's film 'Koyaanisqatsi', featuring the composition 'Prophecies' by Philip Glass. Through reapplying the basic fundamentals of minimalism through visuals, this short film attempts to convey the origins of chaos and simplicity, the interplay between sight and sound, and the border between the real and surreal. PERSON(a) | An Ode to Jackson Pollock feat. Shostakovich's 'Second Waltz' "The persona is fittingly enough a kind of mask, designed on the one hand to make a definite impression upon others, and, on the other, to conceal the true nature of the individual." Jackson Pollock (1912-1956), best known for his iconic drip paintings, was a follower of Jungian psychology, which stressed the differentiation of the 'self' from the 'persona'. Faces and masks recur frequently in his earlier works, including in his painting 'The Mask' (1941), which illustrates this divide between the individual and the facade. In creating 'PERSON(a)', I sought to both provide a testament to this revolutionary artist, as well as translate his beliefs of identity into a more modern medium. In dividing the person from the person(a), whom I construct from the beginning as playful, curious, and peculiarly voyeuristic, I hope to provide insight into not only the way we carry ourselves, but in the way we view ourselves.
